How to use these templates in BETA Blogger

People are asking when these templates (my own, I mean, not the Minima and Rounders clones) will be ported to BETA Blogger.
Right, haven't done that, and I probably never will ... sorry * .

But these old fashioned templates CAN be used in BETA. Easy :-)

You only have to tell BETA to use the old template system:

  1. Dashboard > Template > Edit HTML > choose any template you want

  2. Revert to Classic Template

  3. Copy and Paste your own template in the Edit Window

  4. Save Template Changes

Here you have your good old system ... back again, thank Gods! ...
with the BETA new feature DYNAMIC SERVING! (Now that's an uplift!)

*) I am not very interested in BETA (at the moment).

But if you are using the BETA templates ...

BETA TIP I: When you are going to implement some code yourself (being third party or not) use a widget to add your code:
  1. DASHBOARD > Template > Page Elements > Add a Page Element

  2. Choose: HTML/JavaScript (Add third-party functionality or other code to your blog.)

  3. ADD TO BLOG

  4. A Pop-Up appears where you can add the needed code (in the content window)

  5. (A title can be inserted here as well!)
Be very cautious with the code syntax ... XML is very stringent!!!

Thanks! I copied one of my templates over to the practice beta blog and it looks good doing it as you outlined.

Now to migrate, would I follow the beta migration process and then do the revert as outlined?

Hi Steve,

I don't know, to be honest.

As mentioned above, you CAN use the old style templates in the new Blogger system.
You can NOT upgrade your existing (old style) template to a new one ... you can only 'pick' a 'new template'.

But I guess that is not your question.

I have not migrated an existing blog to BETA. I think the process you described ("follow the beta migration process and then do the revert as outlined") will very likely be possible ... but as said, I couldn't try this myself.

As Blogger states: the new version of Blogger is still in beta!

So maybe it is better to start migrating when there is an official stable new version.

(That's what I would do!)

Regards,

Thur

Hi,
Thanks for the nice templates.
1:Is there a way to decrease the space in boxes.ex side box with links title, there is lot of space between last link and bottom border.
2:how to cutomize the color of each box border and text in it?
3:Basically make ALL the boxes more useful and compact without space wastage.

regards,
tom

I have been happily using your template for a few weeks, but I just signed up for text link ads and they want a link in a full-width footer, using the new blogger layout. I wonder if you have code to set up a full width footer with the classic template please? I cannot get teh new (beta) version to accept the three column layout at all. Thanks Flora

PS I know the template says it will be full width but it is not working for me in practice. Thanks Flora

Dear thur:

After some weeks looking for a new template without success (I'm going to be crazy), I very much apreciate if you would show me the html code for:
Rounders3_original_3col
( expanded header/footer )

My template is already Rounders3, but only with 2 columns, and now I just changed to the beta (now the new version) Blogger.
I would like to restyle my blog, and rounders 3, with 3 col. (explanded header/footer) It would be the best for me.

Thank you very much in advance.
My e-mail adress is alcoberrix@hotmail.com
(you are my last chance to success in restyling my blog without going crazy!!)

Hi Viper,

Well .. you only have to right-click on the [.txt] under the Rounders3_original_3col image to download that template as a text-file.

(Said again: this is an ALPHA Blogger template (no widgets))

Regards,

Thur.
