Hmmm ... don't know if I'll come to an end with this one :-( For printing an em is defined as the width of the M (uppercase) in the current face and point size. For screens an em is the current point size. In CSS an em is relative: it inherits the size information from it's parent. Update (Tuesday, January 17, 2006): I made this a FIXED layout, intentionally with a 760px Container-width. Therefore the effective space in the Content box (the post area) is rather small. If used for an existing blog please be aware it is likely to fail - the posted images (etc.) will probably prove too wide for this box. I've already noticed a few blogs, published using this template, where the BlogMaster/Mistress has changed the #container width to 900px! That's good. (Not my choice - but okay, of course :-) ) Just that one adjustment makes it a layout for >=1024, but that'll be enough to 'port' (almost) every existing blog, without making a mess! Update (Thursday, January 19, 2006): Q: If you wanted to make a background for yourself, how would one insert it into the template? A: The same way as inserting a banner/header background-image (see How To ... Banner Image) body {I'll describe the Properties (briefly) in How To ... CSS Background Properties. *) Mind: the *.htm template looks a bit odd in MIE, because of the long Blogger tags. It generates perfect, though :-) |

Thur, it's beautiful. I like this one best. Thanks for making these. I've been going nuts trying to figure all this stuff out.
I really like this one, I'm waiting to use this one as soon as you get it done. How long do you think it'll be before it's done?
It's done!
Except for the BlogItemBacklinks code.
I'll have to do that this weekend :-)
thanks thur for a beautiful template. i have tried it out myself, however, it generates in a distorted way...i know you said there might be a problem with explorer, but everything seems to be off- i was wondering if u could help? thanks.
pali,
No, I didn't say there might be a problem!
I said the template as a html-page looks a bit odd in MIE, but it generates perfect pages.
Look at my example blog (in MIE, Firefox, Netscape and Opera).
There is nothing wrong with this template! (Only keep images and links small enough to FIT!)
You are not showing a link to your blog, so there is not much to help :-)
This is a beautiful template but it isn't practical for someone to use on a blog they've been using for longer than a couple of weeks because it messes everything up. Every picture posted spills over into the right sidebar, along with all of the text under the caption.
Additionally, the blog does not come with the background in the sample blog. The background in this one is a drab grey.
Ashy You,
Good point! Never really thought about that as a possible complication. I will make a note in the thread.
And about the background. True! The background in the sample blog is not provided with the template. It's mine :-) Made that for my own pages/design. (Therefore: please, please, please, do NOT use that one!)
if you wanted to make a background for yourself, how would one insert it into the template?
Hi Thur and thanks for this beautiful template. This is exactly what I was looking for, and finally I feel at ease with my own blog.
Just one question I can't figure out: When I'm placing a link within my post, it turns the same color as the side menu's (brown) and it's difficult to see.
Is there a way to keep a link within the post in the white color?
Thanks again, and thanks to your template I'm encouraged to blog again.
hey thur. i used this template and really enjoy it. i have one question though, on the right side bar every section becomes indented, how can i fix this? i modified the template slightly to get the second line of text to indent on the previous posts section. i only know enough about css and the like to get myself in trouble, so i don't know if i screwed anything up by changing it.
thank you for the template, and thank you if there is any help you can provide.
I love this template and I have to thank you for making your templates so easy to work with. They're clean and simple; both visually and in the CSS.
Thanks so much!
Great template. Yet i´ve been into some trouble trying to control the font sizes; the em measures are confusing and hard to work with. Ah, off course, i´ve made some changes to it: hope you like the result (and, if there is any advice about the font-size stuff, it´ll be welcome)
This is a great how to blog...now if I can actually do it, it'll be an absolute miracle!

Hi Gringo,
Hmmm ... yes, I know, these templates are only to be used with the old BLOGGER engine.
I did promise some time ago I would port these (my own) templates to BETA BLOGGER ... but I didn't ... .
Shouldn't be that hard, but I simply do not have the time right now.
Regards,
Thur.
These are great, but I don't understand.
Are these not usable on new (beta) blogger?
